Tasting room

Our tasting room and cellar door; referred to as the home of our wines is an emotionally charged environment created to explore the imagination of the past. A beautifully simple space with the essence bequeathed and respected from the old world. There is a certain transparency in what we do, we simply make wines true to the form we love and with this followed creating the environment we love to drink them, this is very personal and on any given day you may find Poppy herself veracious in sharing the wine’s journey to bottle.

Bookings are not required for wine tastings, however for groups of over 10 people should make contact as to best times. We get incredibly busy and do not wish to disappoint! 
We do charge a small fee of $15 for wine tasting however this is absolutely refundable if you decide to purchase any of our wines."

Lunch

Tasting wines in the environment they are created can be an incredibly mesmerising experience be it not the true intention of what wine is about. Loving wine in all its glory is the combination of food and conversation, for us the true expression and traditional essence of wine as this combination is simply inseparable.
The flavours of food can heighten and enhance wine beyond imagination so from this we create an assortment of fresh beautiful flavours served as a seasonal vineyard platter.
Poppies Martinborough is not a traditional restaurant so we don’t offer a menu as such.

Story

Poppies... a creation in the love affair with the old world.

Poppy and Shayne Hammond with a selected group of likeminded people set out to forge their own direction in making wines with tradition flowing through the glass, fashions and fads come and go however they believe traditional wines have the essence and romance of longevity. Staying true to outcome is vital and when you drink their wines from any different season you will always see the family resemblance… thus a true Poppies Martinborough wine is made how they love to drink.
